Since 2013, the UNC Charlotte School of Nursing has collaborated with Western Carolina University, to offer the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. However, in collaboration with Western Carolina University, the UNC Charlotte School of Nursing has decided to sunset its Dual DNP program effective January 2021. UNC Charlotte will retain its highly successful DNP program and, pending approval by the North Carolina Board of Governors, will offer the program online beginning Fall 2021.

UNC Charlotte and Western Carolina will continue to collaborate and provide the same high-quality educational experience for students currently enrolled in the Dual DNP program until they have completed their program of study. The UNC Charlotte School of Nursing appreciates its long-standing collaboration with Western Carolina University. It was through this unique collaborative that both Schools contributed to the educational preparation of hundreds of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and other nurses across North Carolina who sought to obtain a clinically focused doctoral degree.
