Pamela T. Rudisill was named UNC Charlotte’s Distinguished Nursing Alumni by the University’s School of Nursing Alumni Chapter.

The Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award is bestowed upon an alumnus or alumna who has made outstanding contributions to the School of Nursing or has been recognized for exceptional achievement at the national, state or local levels.

Rudisill, a graduate of the bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing programs respectively, currently serves as Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive at Health Management Associates, Inc., where she heads up nursing/patient safety initiatives in the system’s 71 hospitals. Among her many accomplishments at Health Management, she successfully implemented a Patient Safety Program to improve the care of the system’s 1,560,000 yearly patients. She also served as Vice President of Nursing and Patient Safety during the four years prior to her 2012 executive appointment.

Rudisill began her career at Health Management as associate executive director and chief nursing officer in 1996, overseeing a $120 million budget for Nursing Services, Performance Improvement, Employee Health, Infection Control and Pharmacy at the system’s Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.

She was appointed as an adjunct faculty member for UNC Charlotte’s MSN program in 1990 and part-time professor of the same program in 2004.

“I think the Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award is a great way to recognize the wonderful contributions our alumni have made to healthcare and improving the lives of others,” Dee Baldwin, Associate Dean and Director of the School of Nursing, said. “Our University has produced many exceptional graduates who have made major strides in the field of nursing.”
